On April 12th, 2011, in IBDIM’s conference hall, the seminar entitled “Intelligent Transportation Systems ITS – opportunities, projects and implementations” took place. The meeting was organised by: the Road and Bridge Research Institute and ITS POLSKA Intelligent Transportation Systems Association. The purpose of the seminar was to present the experience of the Road and Bridge Research Institute (IBDIM) in examining and implementing Intelligent Transportations Systems in Poland. In particular, it focused on IBDIM’s role as the institution supporting local governments of different levels that Invest in, modernise and renovate roads and bridges and helping introduce efficient road network management systems.

Applications were sent by more than 90 people, but due to a limited number of places, the seminar was attended by more than 70 representatives of local government entities (47%), services sector (18%), representatives of research institutes and organisations (17%), government institutions (7%), and universities (11%).

On the first day of the seminar, the results of ITS projects implemented by IBDIM and the possibilities of a common (together with local governments) implementation of results of the said projects on the example of roads in Mazowieckie Province were presented. During the second part of the programme the participants had an opportunity to visit the Mobile Laboratory situated in the area of IBDiM to follow and acquire road traffic parameters (outside with a possibility to have a ride) and quantify surface parameters.
