ITS POLSKA would like to extend its thanks to all those attending the business breakfast meeting where the honorary guest was Mr Stanisław Żmijan, an MP and the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Infrastructure Committee. The meeting took place at Le Meridien Bristol Hotel, Warsaw, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on 9 October 2012.

“We can’t solve our traffic congestion problems without technology and innovation, and building new road infrastructure is not enough,” Stanisław Żmij, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Infrastructure Committee, said at the meeting.

The attendees discussed issues related to the difficulties they encounter while applying the public procurement procedures in the case of contracts for intelligent transportation systems. In particular, they talked about the problem of selecting contractors in tendering procedures and about the accuracy of the information contained in the terms of reference. Other issues included the problem of lack of competitive dialogue and the difficulties in carrying out projects on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. The attendees’ lively discussion and suggested solutions to the current problems will soon be presented to all the members of the ITS Polska Association and to MP Stanisław Żmijan of the Parliamentary Infrastructure Committee.
