Warsaw Traffic Management Centre holds Open Doors event in Zegrze, Warsaw, 14-15 January 2010
A two-day seminar called Warsaw Traffic Management Centre Open Doors, held on 14-15 January 2010, is over.
On the first day of the seminar, held at Hotel 500 on Zegrzyńskie Lake, the invited speakers talked about the history of traffic management in Warsaw, traffic management in the strategy for the development of a transport system, a description of Warsaw’s transport system, the prospects for users of the system, a feasibility study – the target and achieved result indicators, an idea for the development of Warsaw’s traffic management system, the question of obtaining EU funding for traffic management systems, a strategy for traffic management system control, open protocols and solutions in traffic management systems, optical fibre cables – a new vision of a transport medium, the basic requirements for communication networks for traffic control systems, the safety of gathering and disclosing information, variable message signs in the aspect of ITS, and a city lighting system according to the PN-EN13201 standard that allows for smoother traffic and increased safety of street users.
On the second day, the practical aspects of implementing a system at the Warsaw Traffic Management Centre were discussed.
The organisers were very satisfied with the large number of attendees and the great interest in the topics discussed during the seminar, which is undoubtedly a great achievement. The meeting was attended by a total of 140 representatives, including the services sector (44%), local government institutions (38%), organisations (9%), higher education institutions (8%) and the press (1%).
The seminar was organised by the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) POLSKA Association in cooperation with the Warsaw Road Management Board (ZDM). The partners of the seminar included Siemens (a platinum partner, the host of the evening), Alcatel-Lucent (a diamond partner, the host of lunch) and APM (a golden partner, the host of a coffee break). The media patrons were the magazine Przegląd ITS and the www.e-myto.pl portal.
