ITS POLSKA Members Business Breakfast
14 July 2011, Warsaw

Honorary Guest: Andrzej Maciejewski, Deputy Director General for National Roads and Motorways

ITS POLSKA would like to thank its members for taking part in the business breakfast meeting attended by Mr Andrzej Maciejewski, Deputy Director General for National Roads and Motorways. The meeting took place in the Słowacki Hall at Le Meridien Bristol Hotel (ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 42/44), from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., on 14 July 2011.

During the meeting, representatives of companies connected with the ITS industry and of the Directorate General for National Roads and Motorways discussed, among other topics, the possibilities of implementing intelligent transportation systems in Poland with support from ITS POLSKA members. The attendees agreed to create working groups of experts to prepare proposals for transportation system standards and integration projects. The experts will come from companies offering ITS implementation services, academic centres and public administration authorities. Such groups could significantly speed up the process of building ITS architecture in Poland and provide help and support in developing a plan of action for the development of intelligent transportation systems, in connection with the Directive 2010/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 July 2010 on the framework for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems in the field of road transport and for interfaces with other modes of transport. The attendees emphasised that preparing such a plan would require a lot of work and funding, and that once it was prepared, it might not have a great impact, since Poland has no representative in Brussels and Poland’s plans might be of little importance in the creation of European ITS architecture.

Other topics were also discussed during the meeting, including the use of the Polish Presidency of the EU to strengthen Poland’s role in European structures; a road toll collection system for cars covering new sections of motorways; or the implementation of the ViaToll electronic toll collection system. The business breakfast meeting, organised by the ITS Polska Association and hosted by the president of the Association at the Bristol Hotel in Warsaw, was attended by 15 people. They included representatives of the following companies: Alcatel-Lucent, DHV Polska, Egis Projects Polska, Hewlett-Packard, Neurosoft, OpenSky Systems&Services, Project Development & Management, Sener; plus four representatives of Directorate General for National Roads and Motorways, including Mr Andrzej Maciejewski, Deputy Director General, as an honorary guest.
